Conduct of programs:

The Institute draws up its programs with an eye on the changing trends in the banking industry. The program contents are in keeping with the various concepts and policies envisaged by the Government of India, Government of Tamil Nadu, Reserve Bank of India and NABARD for the development and the growth of the Coop. Banks. The programs are so designed as to motivate the participants to render services to the rural people more efficiently and effectively. The Institute has also received good feedback from the sponsoring institutions regarding the progress achieved by them because of the training inputs received by their employees.

The focus of training is on six categories, viz.,

  • Induction training for new entrants.
  • Core training programs for all employees in identified areas.
  • Placement related functional training.
  • Training in areas of specialization.
  • Training in management inputs and
  • Training in application of computer skills.

Every year, ACSTI conducts TNA (Training Needs Analysis) by inviting the opinion/feedback from the Client Institutions, viz., SCBs, DCCBs, CUBs & PACS. Incorporating the requirements of the Client Institutions, the Institute prepares a tentative Calendar of Programs which will be examined by the Syllabus Committee consisting of the Managing Director - TNSC Bank, General Manager - TNSC Bank, Director - NICM, Managing Director of one DCCB, Joint Registrar of one Region, Representative of NABARD, DGM (IT) of TNSC Bank, AGM (DAP) of TNSC Bank and DGM / Principal, ACSTI. On finalization by the Syllabus Committee of the Tentative Calendar of Programs, ACSTI places it before the Standing/Training Advisory Committee for its approval. The President of the Bank is the Chairperson of the Standing/Training Advisory Committee, the Managing Director - TNSC Bank, the CGM - NABARD, RO, Director - NICM, Chennai and the Principal, ACSTI are the distinguished members of the Committee. On approval of the Programs thus prepared, the Institute conducts the programs round the year.

The Institute also conducts certain customized on-location programs on the basis of specific needs expressed by the user-organizations.

On-location Programs

  • On-location program on "Marketing of Products & Techno-based Services" at DCCBs, viz., Tiruvannamalai, Dindigul, Villupuram, Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari, Sivagangai were conducted during the year 2018-19.

PACS Empowerment Initiatives

  • In addition to in-house training programs, ACSTI conducts on-location Training Program at various DCCBs’ Centres to empower PACS. The programs were conducted on the title “RuPay Kisan Credit Card, Digital Member Register, Digital Banking & Business Development Plan”.
  • During the year 2018-19, 20 Programs were conducted on 2 trainee days & 686 PACS trainees were benefited.
  • Institute had conducted 137 Programs for PACS against the scheduled target of 100.

Special Programs

a) BIRD, Mangalore

Considering the good infrastructure facility available at our Institute, BIRD, Mangalore, conducted two programmes on "Attitude for Business Development" for the staff of PACCS, one for Tirunelveli Region and another for Sivagangai Region as on-location programme at ACSTI during 2018-19.

b) Registrar of Co-operative Societies

Two residential training programmes of three days each for newly recruited Senior Inspectors of Cooperative Societies, working under the control of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, were conducted at ACSTI during 2018-19.

Commitment of ACSTI

ACSTI is committed to building the capacity of staff of all Coop. Banks to deliver effective and efficient financial services by reaching out to the clients engaged in rural development. Every year, the Institute plans its training strategy and its syllabus in tune with:

  • the changing rural environment
  • policies impacting cooperatives
  • feed back received during the course of training
  • suggestions given by NABARD
  • discussions at various levels
  • policy changes of Government
  • guidelines of RBI / NABARD / RCS

The above points are kept in mind with a view to re-design and update the existing training programs in order to address the emerging needs and challenges of the staff of cooperatives.

Future plans of ACSTI

  • To focus on need based training programs on contemporary themes
  • To conduct training programs on all functional areas
  • To outreach the clients by conducting more and more on-location training programs
  • To increase the number of programs to cover more participants
  • To conduct case studies, impact evaluation for use of the same at class rooms
  • To conduct more and more case exercises in class rooms during the training to enlighten the participants
